Boiler Covers

Electrical Controls

The boiler cover of a Formeco distillation machine acts as safety overpressure valve, being locked by a lid locking device with spring which opens at 0,1 bar of overpressure. Other distillation machine manufacturers place a small valve on the top of the cover, which can easily become obstructed during the distillation process due to foam formation.

Formeco distillation machines have a special lid locking device (with spring) to avoid pressure build-up in the boiler during the distillation process (at atmospheric pressure).

The boiler of Formeco distillation equipment is characterized by a large diameter and a shallow depth, so it can be easily accessed by the user during the cleaning and maintenance operations.

In the units of the “Professional” series (60, 120, 180 litres), the inner part of the cover is equipped with a gutter-pipe, placed in the middle, to convoy the solvent vapour that condenses on the cover directly to the condensation pipe, avoiding reflux into the boiler which would diminish distillate production.

Large industrial distillation machines have two options for boiler covers.  Tilt-able distillation units have a lid that actually forms the top portion of the distillation boiler chamber.  This lid can be hydraulically or pneumatically raised, or sometime by means or hand cranking a gear box.  Fixed boilers have man holes and inspection ports for cleaning.
