A distillation column is used for a very specific separation of two
chemicals or solvents, such as acetone and water. It is not for
treating of items like paint waste solvents, but to separate the two
solvents at a high degree of purity.
Distillation columns start at 50 liters per hour of solvent throughput.
Distillation columns are very large when compared to their hourly output.
This is because the solvents are distilled over and over as they rise
through the column, as opposed to being distilled once.
